City guards desends on commuters who refused to use Madina, Adenta footbridge (Read more)

Adenta

Adenta, Madina road was one of the major causes of accident in 2019, with protest, and demonstrations from the people of Adenta, the then government in 2020 constructed a two footbridge on the Adenta, Madina highway to curb accident on the road. But the people refuse to use use the footbridge, using how long it takes to get to the roadside as complaint.

Yesterday, city guards of the La Nkwantan Municipal descended heavily on commuters who crossed the street without using the footbridges in Madina, Adenta.

They used corporal punishment such as caning and kneeling down as a means of disciplining them.

But I believe the use of fines would have been appropriate since MMDAs are always complaining of insufficient funds to run their affairs in the country.

Below are some reactions from Ghanaians

"We are in the 21st century the use of cane and knelling down as a form of punishment is a an old age approach. We need to adopt a method were by indiscipline citizens will be allowed to weed and clear the gutters as a form of punishment."

"Some of our people are just stubborn, my goodness. There's nothing inhumane about the way they've been treated, If you find it inhumane, just use the bridge"

Ghanaians need Education on certain things if we will one day grow as a country.
